ADDRESSING THE AEROSPACE MACHINING INDUSTRIES SKILLS GAP, ONE CUSTOMER AT A TIME
The Aerospace Industry continues to face unprecedented social, economic and environmental challenges driven by accelerating globalisation and a faster rate of technological development. And it is these very same challenges that Seco is helping our customers address through our 17 strong 2022 Aerospace Academy Graduates. The Aerospace Industry continues to face unprecedented social, economic and environmental challenges driven by accelerating globalisation and a faster rate of technological development, and it is these very same challenges that Seco is helping our customers address through our 17 strong 2022 Aerospace Academy Graduates.
After its successful launch in 2020, Seco’s advanced collaborative learning environment, the Aerospace Academy, expanded its training program to expose its latest graduates to a broader range of manufacturing principles and future trends in order for them to gain a deeper understanding of the segment and to handle all aspects of current and future aerospace manufacturing challenges.
During their intensive 10-month program, our graduates met with industry and academia partners and global machining experts, who shared their insights and experience with our graduates. The Aerospace Academy covered topics on:
Sustainable manufacturing – (Energy efficient machining)
Future trends – (Aircraft design, propulsion, fuels, sustainability & manufacturing equipment)
Practical manufacturing projects - (Machining optimisation of critical aircraft components)
Manufacturing best practices – (Sustainable & profitable machining, component workholding)
Advanced materials – (Carbon fibres, HRSA and aluminium)
Project management – (Physical and remote international, regional, and local projects)
Trade regulations – (AS9100, ISO9001 & ITAR)
Business intelligence – (Helping aerospace manufacturing companies make insightful business decisions based on Seco business Intelligence, backed by solid data)
Cultural awareness & communication skills– (Ethical cross-border collaboration for global organisations)
The Aerospace Academy 2022 graduates are located in 17 countries spanning over 91,161 km (56,645 miles). This year, we conducted four workshops where our graduates teamed up to work on critical aircraft components. With the Academy’s advanced collaborative learning environment, our global graduates delivered four well-engineered, turn-key, machined solutions to our customers, reducing their overall cost, time and environmental impact on production.
Seco believes that education is vital in developing the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that enable our people to contribute to our customers and their success. Working and learning with others with different perspectives allows our people to find those untapped opportunities and identify multiple solutions to big problems. Seco’s Aerospace Academy aims to do more than prepare our machining experts for the world of work. It equips them with the skills needed to become active, responsible and engaged global machining experts.
With the addition of our 17 graduates, Seco now has 35 global graduates with a deep understanding of the aerospace segment and the know-how and tools to handle all your current and future aerospace manufacturing challenges.
