Hydraulic Chucks
Hydraulic chucks are effective for reaming, drilling, threading and light milling with end mills at high spindle speeds. They use oil pressure to compress an internal membrane within the holder body, uniformly applying high pressure to grip 360° around the tool shank. This holds cutting tools with a low and repeatable runout of maximum 3 µm at 3xD (maximum 6µm at 3xD for cylindrical shanks).
Very easy to use, the tool clamping is activated with one screw, eliminating the need for additional equipments. Hydraulic chucks provide an excellent and repeatable run-out.
Fine balanced as standard, hydraulic chucks can reach rotation speeds up to 40,000 rpm. The stop end screw allows the projection of the tool to be easily set, while reduction sleeves, acting as a split collet, allow the chuck to grip more shank sizes and types, including Weldon and Whistle Notch.
To prolong tool life and enhance precision, the bore has a helical groove where dirt, oil or grease can collect when it has inadvertently been left on the tool shank.
Seco’s range of hydraulic chucks includes the “HC” range (conventional versions according to DIN69882-7) the “HCR” range (reinforced versions for heavy duty) and the “HCS” range (slim 3° designs for excellent workpiece accessibility).
